Good morning and good night!

Here's a little taste of what goes on in the morning and at night in the world of Addison at the Barat household!





Addison wakes up as happy as can be and we spend time playing and talking with her. It's especially cute when Callie gets involved in the mix. Typically wherever we are Callie is sure to be close by.

When bedtime rolls around, it's a bath (or just a wipedown), a story or two and lots of rocking, holding and bouncing. Addison seems to be getting sleepy earlier in the evening now so we try to watch her cues and get her to bed timely. We can't WAIT for when she sleeps a 12 hour stretch through the night, which we hear happens around 3 months or so.

Weekend fun

This past weekend was a mellow and enjoyable weekend all together - DJ didn't even play golf despite the perfect "fall-like" weather! Grandma and Grandpa Barat came over to babysit on Friday night while DJ and I got together for drinks and dinner with friends. Everything went well, though we did miss Addison and were happy to see her sleeping soundly when we got home.

Our friends Aimee and Jamie were in town from Orange County so Natalie and Jeff hosted a BBQ at their loft on Saturday.

Busy day!

Yesterday Addison went to Target corporate to meet the Finance HR team. It was the last team meeting before the team changes quite a bit so we were glad to make the rounds there. We visited with many people, all of whom thought Addison and her chubby cheeks were very cute! She was pretty good for a while, got fussy for a bit then fell fast asleep.

Later that evening Ryan, Heidi, Olivia and Kendra came over to say hello. The girls were very excited to meet the baby and hold and kiss her. Addison was all smiles for everyone.....until she got hungry and tired

Addison and Adriana

Friend and Target co-worker Adriana came by on Monday to meet Addison for the first time. Adriana is a brand new newlywed! Her wedding photographer did Addison's photo shoot in July, and the woman who made her invitations did Addison's announcements. We thank Adriana for the great referrals! Anyhow, you can see how Addison just loved her, as she was all smiles and coos.

Pool party

On Saturday we went to DJ's aunt Heather's house for their annual pool party. The weather was spectacular and Addison enjoyed the pool. The best part was seeing her in her little swim outfit! She can't wait to wear it more often when we're in CA next month. Unfortunately the camera battery died after only a couple of pictures....

The singing/flashing star on the Baby Einstein play gym is apparently hysterical to Addison. We're waiting for her to burst out laughing!

Funny sleeping positions

Addison LOVES to sleep and she's found some comfortable positions to maneuver herself into over the past few days.

At 5 weeks, Addison is beginning to give us some smiles when we laugh and smile at her - it really makes our hearts melt! She loves her Baby Einstein playmat, and the singing star with colored lights staring down at her when she's on her back makes her smile as well.

Happy one month birthday!

August 2nd marked Addison's one month birthday and we can't believe how fast it went by and how much she's changed. Just looking back at the earlier blog postings she seems like a different baby. Addison had a couple of firsts on her one month bday - she took a garden tour in the Baby Bjorn and we introduced the bottle with breastmilk. To our relief, she took to it with no problem at all. We also went over to Grandma/Grandpa Barat's for dinner so DJ's Aunt Kevin could meet Addison. She's also beginning to give us some social smiles - so adorable! We'll try to capture one on film soon.
